Seems macros are all the rage

Shot this one without benefit of a tripod, never a great idea, the other day in the garden at Mission San Juan.

This is my 50mm Sigma mounted on the Sony. My other macro is a 100mm Canon. At 100mm, it deserves the name "Canon," which is why I usually use the Sigma. I goosed the ISO up to get a steadier shot than my old hands deserve, but still, the chances of perfect focus are nil, try as I might, I move and the wind moves the flower. Still, not too bad.

Outstanding, John. Can't believe that this was hand held; very impressive. Superb composition.

This is phenomenal ... hand held is hard to believe, but I trust you. A super shot!

That darned wind. I battle it all the time, too. And, like Lee, all my shots are hand-held.

And, of course, I meant to say that this is a fantastic macro. I love the soft color. Very romantic.

That's a wonderful composition! Incredible focus and color also on this - even without the tripod - very nicely done!

Not too bad at all!!!! It's a beautiful shot you got, without all the bells and whistles!! I did the same thing myself yesterday, and I'm anxious to dump the shots onto the computer, and see what I got!!! Hope I'm as lucky as you were!!

You probably know I get myself in trouble all the time for going out without a tripod. This looks good to me, though. Pretty colors!
