The "Other Bridge"

Posted by Monterey John (Hollister, CA, United States) on 2 January 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This is the little brother to the famous Bixby Bridge and is located just a short distance north of that famous structure on Route 1 in Big Sur. Both were built during The Great Depression.

It is definitely a "bridge to somewhere" and a symbol of how I see this new year.

It is so good to have bridges that actually take us somewhere. One of my bucket list ambitions is to drive route 1 in Big Sur. I love this shot. Happy New Year, John.

John - this is an excellent photo. I enjoy the bridges in that area of California, and the ones near Newport, Oregon.

Outstanding, wonderful symbolism for your caption. Like Viewfinder it has long been my ambition to drive the coast of California especially around Big Sur. Thanks for the view.
Happy New Year.
