For all those non-aggie types, this is an irrigation system used to water the fertile fields in this area that has no rain six months of the year. Below the Salinas Valley lies one of the largest aquifers in North America. It is replenished by the fall and winter rains and snows in the nearby mountains. The water is pumped to the surface and spread through these devices.
