Processing Madness

Posted by MontereyJohn (Salinas, California, United States) on 28 June 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Want to know how to spend about 6 hours? Geezers!

I previously posted this image http://montereyjohn.aminus3.com/image/2009-05-05.html but I wanted to "do something" with it.

I spent most of the day processing this image. It was evenly lit and rather bland as it was shot of a cloudy and dreary day. Further, there was all sorts of junk in the picture including a power line over the river, and picnic tables and porta-johns on the right bank. So, I fired up both Photoshop and Lightroom. The goal was to get a decent center of interest, in this case the bridge and reflection, and get rid of the clutter. I darkened the bridge structure, boosted the saturation of the reflection, reduced exposure in the clouds, clone stamped out all the junk and generally fiddled with brightness and contrast until I got what I wanted. Not too bad.

I need a nap.

This one is being printed on canvas and will be going on sale this week.
