Starry, Starry NightPosted by MontereyJohn (Salinas, California, United States) on 19 November 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. Saturday I went to the relighting of the Pigeon Point Fresnel lens, something they do once a year. The weather was just gorgeous, almost too gorgeous. Without fog, or at least mist, you can not see the beams from the light very well. but I did see stars, and so did the camera I learned when I got home and put this night's photos up on the computer. BTW, this is a screen shot from Lightroom. PS was not cooperating very well with those lovely stars and I'm tired of fiddling with it just now. That is the reason there's no meta data here. For those dying to know: This photo is my favorite of the ones I shot Saturday night. I like the fact the stars were so well captured in the presence of the bright light. Having shot in RAW, the details in the shadows on the lighthouse were able to be brought out with some tweeking. It works for me :) For a short slideshow of Pigeon Point Light: http://montereyjohnphotography.com/Pigeon_Point/index.html Thanks for dropping by and sharing in the joy I take in this art of photography.
