After the RainPosted by MontereyJohn (Salinas, California, United States) on 6 November 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. The fall rains have finally arrived. Goodbye dust. Hello clear skies, great light and good shooting. For all those non-aggie types, this is an irrigation system used to water the fertile fields in this area that has no rain six months of the year. Below the Salinas Valley lies one of the largest aquifers in North America. It is replenished by the fall and winter rains and snows in the nearby mountains. The water is pumped to the surface and spread through these devices. Today the light was just right to capture this modern marvel. Thanks for dropping by and sharing in the joy I take in this art of photography. Enjoy your visit, and if you have any comments or useful criticisms, please feel free to share them.
