What can one say. The grim fight against the inferno continues on the Big Sur Coast. The village of Big Sur was evacuated Wednesday morning. Gallant firefighters are doing what they can to save it.
I took this picture in the late afternoon on Wednesday. The smoke over the coast was awesome.
I have put up a Flash display which I hope many will take a look at here http://montereyjohn.com/Big_Sur_Basin_Fire/index.html

The small white truck gives a real impression of the scale of the cloud of smoke. Well captured.

spectacular smoke cloud - it looks to be encroaching slowly towards the viewer... you got some nice light on the foreground as well contrasting nicely with the dark smoke...
