Sunrise at Pt Sur

Posted by MontereyJohn (Salinas, California, United States) on 22 October 2006 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Yesterday was a glorious morning at Pt. Sur. This light lasted no more than five minutes as the sun marched up the beach toward me as it rose over the cliffs behind me. This is a tough spot to get in the mornings as it is prone to heavy fog, which of course is why the light is there in the first place. The rock rising out of the ocean, detached from the cliffs by a mile or so, is an interesting curiosity. The now closed Coast Guard Station is to the left at the top of the rock and the light is to the right.
