Monarchs Return to The Central Coast

Posted by MontereyJohn (Salinas, California, United States) on 19 October 2006 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

This shot was taken at the San Carlos de Bormeo Mission in Carmel. The monarchs return in the fall for wintering. They are amazing critters in that the migrate over several thousan miles. This is a film image from a couple years ago before I went to DSLR.
